Radcliffe Expands Lead to 4 in CGA Senior Stroke Play

DENVER — Scott Radcliffe of Rolling Hills Country Club shot his second consecutive 2-under-par 70 to increase his lead to four strokes Wednesday in the Colorado Golf Association Senior Stroke Play Championship at Cherry Creek Country Club.

Radcliffe, winner of the 2004 CGA Senior Match Play title, carded four birdies and two bogeys for the second straight day and is the only player under par after 36 holes. He’ll go into Thursday’s final round four ahead of five-time Senior Stroke Play champion John Olive of the Broadmoor Golf Club and Jerry Kidney of Overland Golf Course. Kidney fired a 72 Wednesday and Olive a 73.

Sean Forey and Hal Marshall, both of Bear Creek Golf Club, share fourth place at 147. Forey, low amateur in last week’s HealthOne Colorado Senior Open, posted a second-round 69, while Marshall recorded a 73.

The field was cut to the low 40 players and ties after round 2, with 161 or better necessary to qualify for the final day.

The leaders will tee off for Thursday’s final round at 9:27 a.m.
