Jeff Dorsey

CEO, HealthONE

What’s your handicap?

I’m currently a 7.

Do you have any memberships?

Cherry Hills and Green Valley Ranch

What are your favorite Colorado courses?

My very favorite is Cherry Hills, but I also really like Castle Pines and Colorado Golf Club.

As a member at Cherry Hills what do you think of the recent update?

I was lucky enough to be involved in working on the restoration. It was well thought out and extremely well executed by Renaissance Golf. I think it turned out just great.

Last year you renewed HealthONE’s sponsorship of the Colorado Open through 2013. What’s the benefit of being involved in the event?

The Colorado Open has a rich history in our state. I saw it as a way to get involved in one of Colorado’s great venues where the values reflect those of our own organization. The connection with The First Tee is a very big part of that. I think we get a tremendous amount of value for what we invest.

How has golf helped your career?

Physicians, historically, really enjoy spending their time off on the golf course so it’s been a good way to spend time with them.

Aside from golf, what are your biggest passions?

I have two daughters in high school, so family takes up most of my time. I used to ski, but the way I ski, I’d rather plan another golf trip to Arizona instead of risking further injury.

Where do you like to travel to play golf?

The easiest place for to go is to visit my brother in Scottsdale. My dad is Florida, so it’s convenient to fit golf in on those trips. My favorite course outside of Colorado is probably Spyglass. It’s a masterpiece.

With healthcare being such a hot-button political issue, where do you see its future going?

We’re going to see healthcare reform. I would expect to see some form of universal coverage to be brought forward by this Congress. It’s a high priority for people and I’d expect to see some significant changes this time around.
