Moose Delays at Rollingstone Ranch Golf Club

Steamboat Springs, Colorado – When you play Rollingstone Ranch Golf Club you have to be prepared for delays due to frost or weather. For the members and guests of Rollingstone Ranch, however, there is another type of delay they frequently have to endure–a Moose Delay.

“When the moose sits down on the tee box or middle of the fairway, we are now on his schedule,” the staff explains. “This is an animal you don’t want to startle or upset. Just get out your camera and keep your distance. You are now on Steamboat time.”

Golfers don’t have to look hard to find wildlife at this scenic mountain course tucked-in the Fish Creek canyon.

As a certified Audubon Sanctuary, the course has remained a safe haven for the abundant wildlife in the area. Golfers regularly find deer, fox, bear, elk, eagles, osprey and of course moose. Many are simply enjoying their natural habitat or taking a drink from the refreshing Fish Creek that winds through five of the courses’s holes.

The pond on number eight serves as a popular gathering spot and way to cool off in the summer months for many creatures. While playing through the pine and aspen tree-lined holes, you may run into high-soaring eagles, a bear snacking on berries, foxes on the hunt or a family of moose napping in the shade.

While it can be inconvenient at times, Rollingstone Ranch has yet to hear any complaints about the wildlife from the golfers that play there. Stories abound of unique run-ins with animals rarely seen by those that are visiting.

To experience this unique environment, stay at the Sheraton Steamboat Resort Villas and save when you play Rollingstone Ranch Golf Club in Steamboat Springs.

Rollingstone Ranch Golf Club has won many awards and earned top ratings. These accolades include “The Best Wildlife Experience” and “Top Public & Resort Course” according to Colorado Avid Golfer and “The Best Places to Play in Colorado” by Golf Digest.
