On June 30 Matt Kuchar—one of the most popular and successful players on the PGA Tour—will put on an hour-long exhibition exclusively for kids and their accompanying adults. Hosted by The First Tee of Green Valley Ranch and sponsored by CoBank—the title sponsor for the three Colorado Open Championships—the free event will begin at 11 a.m. Attendees must register here or call 303-486-8827.

CoBank has sponsored these junior exhibitions ever since becoming the title sponsor in 2016. Last year brought visits from David Duval, Lexi Thompson and Mark O’Meara, while in 2016 Hale Irwin, Ryan Palmer and Paula Creamer came to inspire and delight the juniors.

This year the kids will welcome the player affectionately known as “Kuuuuuch.” This will be an exhibition, not a clinic, so children do not need to bring clubs.

The 1997 U.S. Amateur champion, Kuchar has won seven PGA Tour championships (including the 2012 Players, 2013 WGC Match Play and 2013 Memorial), an Olympic bronze medal and played on four Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup teams.

With more than $42 million in career earnings, he’s also a big supporter of helping children with serious illnesses and other issues live fuller lives. For the last two years, he has also participated in Evans Scholars fundraising events at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Chicago’s Wrigley Field leading up to the BMW Championships.

While in Colorado, Kuchar will also participate in a private First Tee-related function on the 29th.

The next day, however, will be the big event, as the 20th-ranked player in the world will connect with hundreds of junior attendees on a Saturday morning. There’ll be free pizza and water and an autograph session (kids only) following the exhibition. Kids can play GVR’s par-3 course after the festivities.

Kuchar’s exhibition will be the first of two CoBank-sponsored events this summer. The other will take place Aug. 23 with Annika Sorenstam at The Broadmoor, site of her victory at the 1995 U.S. Open, the first her 72 LPGA Tour titles. (See details on that event here.)

“These exhibitions by Kuch and Annika, like those by the other LPGA and PGA Tour stars we’ve had come in, are unbelievably inspiring to the kids,” says Kevin Laura, the CEO of The First Tee of GVR and CoBank Colorado Opens. “They demonstrate CoBank’s sense of responsibility to being a good corporate citizen. Their generosity always pushes us to raise the bar and get bigger stars.”

Kuchar’s appearance takes place a month before the 2018 CoBank Colorado Open July 26-29.
