America‘s No. 1 golf school comes to Denver
In what looks to be a perfect pairing between the leading golf school in America and the home of the richest state opens in the country, Green Valley Ranch Golf Club—the site of the CoBank Colorado Open Championships—officially announced last week an agreement with Jim McLean Golf Schools.
Recognized by U.S. News and World Report, CNN and Travel & Leisure Magazine as the #1 Golf School in America, the Jim McLean Golf Schools (JMGS) offer classes with world-class golf professionals and state-of-the-art techniques. Since opening its doors in 1991, JMGS has produced both PGA and LPGA tournament winners including Keegan Bradley, Lexi Thompson, Gary Woodland and Cristie Kerr.
The eighth JMGS location worldwide, the Green Valley Ranch academy will offer a wide variety of golf-instruction experiences, including corporate clinics, junior programs, private lessons and multi-day golf schools. GVR’s state-of-the-art indoor/outdoor golf center allows lessons to be held year-round.
A longtime student of McLean’s, Denver’s Keith Rogers will serve as the facility’s director of instruction. As a dedicated instructor to all skill levels, his knowledge, commitment, and passion for teaching is apparent with every lesson.
Joining him are Master Professional Billy Manzene, who began instructing for Jim McLean in 1999 and has taught at top golf clubs throughout the country, and Apprentice Instructor Eli Haskell, a Glenwood Springs native who has taught at Green Valley Ranch for many year and holds a master’s degree in Physical Therapy from Eastern Washington University.
“We are thrilled to welcome Jim McLean Golf School to Green Valley Ranch Golf Club,” said Pat Hamill, course owner and CEO of Oakwood Homes. “We are passionate about providing our guests and members with exceptional offerings and continue to deliver first class experiences. The Jim McLean Golf School will further distinguish GVR as the premium destination for golfers in the metro area.”
McLean, a former professional golfer and renowned instructor, has been a top instructor in the sport for more than 30 years and is a member of six halls of fame including the MET PGA Hall of Fame, the South Florida PGA Hall of Fame and the Miami Sports Hall of Fame.
In addition to being host of the $250,000 CoBank Colorado Open, $150,000 CoBank Colorado Women’s Open and $50,000 CoBank Colorado Senior Open, Green Valley Ranch Golf Club hosts The First Tee of Green Valley Ranch and includes a nine-hole Par-3 course for lessons and public play. Located in a small valley east of Peña Boulevard and just south of Denver International Airport, the Perry Dye design blends natural wetlands, creeks and towering cottonwoods into an exhilarating 7,058-yard experience.
