Srixon gives its superb ZXi7 irons a makeover.
By Tony Dear
It’s a little over a year since Srixon released its ZXi irons – the ZXi7, ZXi5, and ZXi4. They have been very successful both on the world’s professional tours and in the marketplace, and they were certainly among the best irons of 2025. You’d think so highly-regarded a family of clubs would be good for another year. And it is – Srixon isn’t bringing any new technology or updates to the table. What the Hiroshima-based brand has added, though, is a new Black Chrome finish to the irons as well as some of its soft goods (headcovers, bags, and hats, which you may have seen Srixon players with at The Genesis this weekend)

Offering new finishes to existing clubs and limiting the number made (the Black Chrome irons are a limited edition) doesn’t accelerate sales significantly so much as remind people they are there, which, in the case of the ZXi7 and ZXi5, is a good thing.
The ZXi7 is the Tour/Players model with a compact blade length, minimal offset, and a relatively thin top line. Made using Srixon’s i-Forged process from soft S15C steel, they are soft yet strong and emphasize feel and workability. A larger forged PureFrame ridge directly behind the sweetspot enhances the feel of impact for better players. The V.T. Sole and laser-milling between each groove ensure the club glides through the turf and creates “bite”, helping the ball to come to a stop quicker.
The ZXi5, meanwhile, is the Players-Distance model, which benefits from the same i-Forging process as the ZXi7 but features MainFrame instead of PureFrame. MainFrame is a network of milled channels on the back of the SUP10 clubface which saves a little weight and gives the club’s MOI a noticeable boost, making it more forgiving while retaining feel.

The new Black Chrome finish isn’t designed to correct any shot bias, generate greater ballspeed, or improve your shot dispersion. But it will reduce glare. And, perhaps more importantly, it just looks cool. Especially with the Gunmetal shaft.
