PGA Tour major winner Wyndham Clark stopped by his old neighborhood Tuesday to help tout the upcoming BMW Championship and how much he is looking forward to playing in a Colorado tournament for the first time as a professional.

“For me this is so special to be in front of you guys and ultimately play in front of my home crowd and a course I grew up playing so I’m super excited,” Clark said Tuesday during the BMW Championship’s media day.

The tournament is Aug. 22 to 25 at Castle Pines Golf Club. Clark grew up nearby in Highlands Ranch, had a stellar junior career at Valor Christian High School, and had a break-out season in 2023 on the PGA Tour, winning the U.S. Open and the Wells Fargo Championship.

On a steaming Tuesday the course looked tournament-ready and Clark admitted that when the tournament arrives he will probably be more nervous than his competitors because he’ll be playing in front of a home crowd.

I’m not gonna lie: Yeah, I do feel that,” he said. “I haven’t played here in front of a home crowd and especially now being a top five player in the world and having gained a lot of traction, I think, yeah, there is a little bit of pressure.  But I go to things that have helped me in that. I got to defend my championship at Quail Hollow this year  – didn’t do that great at it; felt the pressure there. Same thing with the U.S. Open. And so I feel like I’m learning how to handle that pressure and so I’m hoping by then I’ll be ready. But if not, honestly, I’m going to look at as just enjoying the week. I get to play in front of people that never get to see me play and on a course that I love.”

How FedEx Cup 2024 will work:

The BMW Championship will be the second of the the PGA Tour’s three playoff tournaments.

The top 70 players will play the week before in the FedEx St. Jude Championship, played Aug. 14 to 18 at TPC Southwind in Memphis. The winner receives $4 million.

The top 50 in FedEx points will come the following week to Castle Pines for the BMW Championship. The winner of the BMW Championship receives $4 million.

The following week the top 30 move on to the Tour Championship, Aug. 28 to Sept. 1 at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta. The winner takes home $18 million.
