Rare Photos Unearthed from The International at Castle Pines

Last issue’s cover story on Jack Nicklaus triggered a flood of memories for PGA Professional Jim Cook of Aspen, who took hundreds of black-and-white photographs of the PGA Tour pros during The International’s 21-year run at Castle Pines Golf Club. “I think the best (or luckiest) picture I ever took in my life was the shot of Jack carrying his own clubs,” Cook wrote. “The 1989 picture came about at the 10th hole just after Nicklaus’ group hit their tee shots to the downhill par-four when the weather siren sounded. A short discussion amongst the players soon had the caddies off to mark the balls rather than have everybody walk down. However, a short time after his caddie left, Jack suddenly changed his mind, picked up his own bag and went to finish the hole, as the rules allowed back then.”

Enjoy some of Cook’s photos below from The International.
