Peyton’s Ace

The precision and skills Peyton Manning brings to the football field clearly translate to the golf course.

Last weekend the Broncos’ quarterback reportedly played three rounds at Augusta National Golf Club with Executive VP of Football Operations John Elway and Head Coach John Fox. They were guests of one of Fox’s friends. According to a report Tuesday in the Los Angeles Times, Manning’s lowest round was 77.

This came just weeks after Manning made a hole in one at Castle Pines Golf Club, where he recently became a member. While waiting to play a round with Elway, he joined a random threesome for nine holes and aced the 166-yard No. 7 with an eight-iron, one-hopping it directly into the cup.

It marked the second in his life. “I made one in college, but I was with some buddies,” he told the paper. “This was the first one I'd ever seen go in. In college, we looked in the bunker, the woods, everywhere, and somebody said, 'It's in the hole!' It's a little anticlimactic.

“But the guys I was playing with this time, they were so excited. I mean, I was excited, but you've seen me when I throw a touchdown; I'm kind of ho-hum. These guys went nuts.”
