Lakewood’s Jim Knous Bags an Albatross on Korn Ferry Tour
Pro says it’s his first albatross

Colorado native and current Lakewood resident, Jim Knous, a former varsity golfer at Colorado School of Mines, is plowing the soil of the Korn Ferry Tour this year.
In this weekend’s Lecom Suncoast Classic, held at Lakewood National Golf Club in Sarasota, Knous fired a 5-under for the tournament – thanks in part to what he says is his first-ever albatross.
In the second round, Knous sank his second shot from the fairway on the 565-yard par 5 14th hole. That’s a crisp driver/4-iron for a 2.
This is the first albatross in competition on the Korn Ferry Tour since 2022–also at the Lecom Suncoast Classic at Lakewood National–since Peyton White accomplished the same feat on the first hole of competition at the 2022 event.
For context, there has been one albatross on the PGA TOUR this season (Xander Schauffele at PGA West in January) and only 132 albatrosses on the PGA TOUR since 1983.
The albatross helped him tie for 62nd place! The Korn Ferry folks tore that course to pieces – winner Scott Gutschewski won in a playoff with a score of 21-under par.
