Himalayan Open organizers call event a success

The event at Red Hawk Ridge Golf Course meant to spread the game

A group of Himalayan-area expats who held their first Himalayan Open in early August here in Colorado were pleased that their efforts to spread the game of golf among their community brought players from all over the world.
“It went really well; people were really happy with the organization, course, and the quality of the players,” said one of the organizers.
The field included 112 players; Rizzul Karki won in the Overall Gross category and Avi Jha in the Overall Net.
“The whole event was done to bring the community together and encourage the younger generation toward this sport, as well as support our young and talented players,” the organizer said. 
The event was held Aug. 8 to 9 at Red Hawk Ridge Golf Course
Players came from throughout the U.S. as well as Nepal, and the field included several young players whom are trying to make their way in the game. Pratima Sherpa is first amateur female golfer from Nepal to be ranked, played as well as  other young players like Kashyap Rayamajhi, Jaivir Pandey, Suchit Sharma, Rihana Bhandari, Shriya Sharma, and Samara Pandey.
The organizing committee included numerous Nepalese expats who live in Colorado and the committee is working to hold the event again next year.
“We are really excited about the way this tournament went and can’t wait to plan another one,” the organizer said.
