DU Senior Chris Korte, competing as an individual, comes up short of Nationals.

[easyazon_infoblock align=”right” identifier=”B072C4TN8K” locale=”US” tag=”coloradoavidg-20″]NORMAN, Okla. –University of Denver men’s golf senior Chris Korte finalized his run at the NCAA Regional in Norman, Okla. at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club on Wednesday.
The Littleton, Colo. native completed the tournament with a 9-over 79 in the closing round, putting him in a tie for 54th. The senior’s day included a pair of birdies. Korte finishes the trip with scores of 76, 70, and 79 respectively.
Pepperdine’s Joshua McCarthy will move on to the NCAA Championships as the highest finishing individual shooting a 6-under. Meanwhile, North Florida’s Travis Trace won the event with an 11-under.
Par was 72 at the 7,452-yard course.
“This week was a fantastic experience,“ Korte said. “I learned a lot about my game and what I need to work on to have a successful professional career. The last four years playing under Coach Billinger have been a blessing and I can’t wait to build on our relationship in the future.
“It was a great feeling to stick a wedge on the last hole and finish my college career with a birdie.”
Korte, a first-team All-Summit League selection was competing as an individual and looked to move on to the NCAA Championship in Stillwater, Okla. if he had finished as the lowest scoring player on a non-advancing team. No. 3 Oklahoma, No. 39 BYU, No. 27 North Florida, No. 15 Arkansas and No. 10 Auburn all advance as teams.
