DU Tied for Lead after First Round of California Tournament

STOCKTON, Calif. – The University of Denver men’s golf team is tied for the lead with the University of Nevada at six-under par after a first-round 278 at the 2011 Stockton Convention & Visitors Bureau Pacific Invitational sponsored by Ron Berbarian in Stockton, Calif., on Monday.

Sophomore Oskar Arvidsson (Karna, Sweden) is leading the Pioneers and tied for fourth after a first-round, three-under par 68 at the 6,757-yard, par-71 Brookside Country Club. Senior Troy Anderson (Paradise Valley, Calif.) finished with a two-under 69 and is tied for 10th and sophomore Ole Ramsnes (Stavanger, Norway) is tied for 14th after posting a one-under 70.

Freshman Victor Doka (Zurich, Switzerland) is tied for 20th after an even-par 71 in the opening round and junior Jordan Burgess (Greeley, Colo.) is tied for 55th after a seven-over par 78.

Oregon State (279), Colorado State (280) and Pacific (281) join Denver and Nevada to round out the top five.
