The Division of Cardiology at CU Anschutz is internationally known for unlocking the causes of cardiomyopathy, advancing drug discovery, and delivering specialized clinical care at state-of-the-art facilities. A leader in a new, emerging approach to heart transplantation, CU Anschutz has demonstrated decades of transplant excellence, propelling the program to the 8th largest in the United States.
The Department of Neurology at CU Anschutz consistently ranks in the top neurology departments nationally in research support from the National Institutes of Health. As a leader in Parkinson’s disease research, CU Anschutz experts conducted 37 Parkinson’s clinical studies in 2024 alone. The University of Colorado Movement Disorders Center is a Parkinson’s Foundation Center of Excellence, treating over 7,000 people with Parkinson’s disease annually.

CU Anschutz is also leading advancements in the emerging field of autoimmune neurology, innovating research and improving diagnoses and treatments for people who suffer from complex neuroinflammatory diseases like Stiff Person Syndrome, as well as driving groundbreaking research and discoveries into hearing and vision restoration, offering hope to those suffering from blinding eye diseases like macular degeneration and glaucoma, and hearing loss caused by audio neuropathy and other conditions.
