Colorado AvidGolfer Whiskey Gift Guide

Colorado is home to 80 distilleries; we tried some of the best

Colorado distilleries have been producing excellent whiskeys for several decades, but the recent few years have brought about an explosion of creativity.

In partnership with sponsors Old Elk Distillery of Fort Collins and Black + Haus Tavern in Parker and Littleton, Colorado AvidGolfer put five whiskeys to a taste test for gift giving or your personal collection.

We tried:

  • OLD ELK DISTILLERY’S PORT CASK FINISH: Distilled in Fort Collins, it is a powerful 108 proof and is aged in port wine barrels from Portugal for at least one year
  • TIGHE BROTHERS: Distilled in their Denver distillery and tasting house, the 86 proof bourbon is made with sweet corn from eastern Colorado.
  • TURNBUCKLE DISTILLERY BLUE CORN SINGLE BARREL BOURBON: This bourbon house is in Broomfield but will be moving to Littleton upon completing a new distillery space and tasting room.
  • BRECKENRIDGE BOURBON WHISKEY: The 86 proof high-rye whiskey is distilled at the highest distillery in the world.
  • ROCKER SPIRITS BOURBON WHISKEY: The Rocker Distillery in downtown Littleton has produced an array of good whiskeys for seven years.
