Tickets to Century of Golf Gala Are Almost Sold Out

Once-in-a-lifetime opportunity slipping away.

That ticking you hear is time running out.

If you haven't yet purchased your ticket for November 14's Century of Golf Gala, you'd better hurry.

The Gala, a celebration of 100 years of golf in the Centennial State, will take place at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs. According to Colorado Golf Association Executive Director Ed Mate, more than 1,300 tickets have been sold, leaving precious few spots left.

“This event—a once-in-a-century convening of some of the most significant people in Colorado golf history—will be completely sold out long before our November 5th deadline,” Mate says. “Procrastinators are going to miss out.”

This historic evening features Jack Nicklaus as the headliner. The Golden Bear, the winner of a record 18 majors and considered the greatest golfer of the last 100 years, will conduct a “Fireside Chat” with Tim Rosaforte of Golf Digest and the Golf Channel. Nicklaus, who credits his 1959 U.S. Amateur victory at The Broadmoor as the springboard to his record-setting career, will talk about his achievements as both a player and as the architect of more than 300 courses—12 of which are in Colorado.

Among the luminaries also being honored that evening will be six Persons of the Century: Will Nicholson Jr. (Man of the Century); Judy Bell (Woman of the Century); Hale Irwin (Male Player of the Century); Barbara McIntire (Female Player of the Century); Charles “Vic” Kline (Golf Professional of the Century); and Dennis Lyon (Golf Superintendent of the Century).

Proceeds from the gala will benefit the Colorado Golf Foundation, which supports Colorado-based golf organizations and programs that use golf to build important life skills and character in young people.

Tickets to the gala range from $300 to $1,000; table sponsorships run between $2,500 and $10,000. Those wishing to stay at The Broadmoor can do so at the unheard of rate of $100 per person.
