A We-Ko-Pa Dilemma: Which Course is Your Favorite?

Decisions, decisions…Not really!

With two tracks routinely positioned as the very best golf courses anywhere in Arizona, you really can’t go wrong with either Cholla or Saguaro when you tee it up at We-Ko-Pa Golf Club. Sure, picking your favorite course at We-Ko-Pa is like picking your favorite child – who wants to do that – but if you had to pick one and only one, which would you pick?

Eric Dettman – Head Golf Professional, We-Ko-Pa Golf Club

“Oh, man, that’s a tough question. We get that question a lot over here and I never really feel like I’m 100 percent committed. I’d have to say Cholla. Scott Miller did an incredible job creating the true desert golf experience when he designed Cholla. It’s the more traditional Scottsdale, Arizona golf course layout compared to the Coore Crenshaw designed Saguaro. I always say you haven’t played desert golf until you’ve played Cholla out here at We-Ko-Pa.”

Matt Barr – General Manager, We-Ko-Pa Golf Club

“The Good news is you don’t have to pick, but in fairness to the question, I’d say Saguaro. There’s a reason why Saguaro has been the No. 1-ranked public golf course in Arizona for more than a decade. The ability to shape shots to fit your game instead of bending to the will of the golf course makes for an extremely enjoyable experience. It doesn’t matter if you have your ‘A’ game or you’re trying to grind through a round, Saguaro is going to be about as fun as it gets on a golf course.”

Douglas Sliceli – We-Ko-Pass Holder

“There are times I answer with Cholla and other times I answer with Saguaro, but if I was forced to choose, I’d say Cholla. I think the course fits my eye better. The conditions on both courses are magnificent, so really it comes down to which one looks better on the scorecard after I’m done.”

Matt Wahlig – First Assistant Golf Professional – We-Ko-Pa Golf Club

“Normally, a 36-hole facility is going to have two courses that look and feel the exact same. You see it all the time, especially here in Scottsdale. We-Ko-Pa is different, for sure. Both courses have their own unique design styles and shot-making requirements. If I had to pick one, and only one, I’d say Saguaro. It’s an incredible test and just an all-around incredible golf experience.”
