Colorado’s Lehigh out of U.S. Women’s Am

Loveland’s Lauren Lehigh won her morning match Thursday in the 2023 U.S. Women’s Am and lost on the final hole in the afternoon match.

Lehigh won the morning round at Los Angeles’ Bel-Air Country Club 3-and-2 over Charlotte Cantonis of Florida. The two traded hole-victories for much of the first nine before Lehigh pulled away by winning five holes from No. 7 on.

In the afternoon round Lehigh led Kyra Ly of Portland, Ore. late into their match, but Ly rallied and won four of the final seven holes for the victory.

Lehigh competed in the 2022 U.S. Women’s Amateur as well and reached the quarter-finals, losing to the overall champion Saki Baba of Japan 4-and-3.
