The golf course itself was designed to flow with the area’s natural waterways, volcanic rock formations, native flora and surrounding national forest.

The 18-Hole layout offers two distinct nine-hole experiences. The front nine play alongside—and over—the Rio Grande, amongst a wetland habitat rich with native plants and animals. The back nine takes golfers through pine, aspen and cottonwood trees; stunning rock formations; and a landscape thick with wild rose, gooseberry and vibrantly-colored wildflowers. While playing the back nine, golfers meet the challenge of dramatic elevation changes and tee shots that feel as though you are hitting off the very edge of a mountain. The back nine also border Rio Grande National Forest and follow alongside the serene Alder Creek, which flows into the Rio Grande.

The Rio Grande Club offers fishing access to the Upper Rio Grande Watershed. This grants club members access to more than a mile of private Gold Medal waters for club members offering some of the best fishing west of the Mississippi. The Rio Grande and South Fork rivers meet right by the Club’s Fishing Lodge, creating a fishing hotspot for anglers. South Fork itself is also located along the longest stretch of Gold Medal waters for fly fishing in Colorado. This 20-mile section of the Rio Grande between Creede and Del Norte has Gold Medal designation from the Colorado Division of Wildlife, which means the highest quality aquatic habitat in Colorado and the best chance for catching trophy trout.

The Rio Grande Club’s array of membership opportunities allow for the perfect choice based on your personal interests. Whether it’s golf,  sports and angling, or fitness activities, this semi-private club can accommodate your membership needs, and are currently taking applications.

With a stunning 25,000 square foot, log cabin style club house, and one-of-a-kind views, the atmosphere of the club invites casual elegance and warmth.
