What to Expect from the Course at 2024’s BMW Championship

All 18 holes are going to be interesting, but the back nine is where the action is.

“The back-nine is going to create a lot of drama,” said Keith Schneider, general manager of Castle Pines Golf Club.

Schneider breaks down what fans should expect.

• #10 – “One of our hardest holes.”

• #11 – “It’s a great par-three; a great hole to observe.”

• #12 –  “A tight little par 4 they’ll have some struggle with.”

• #13 – “We’ll see par 4 second shots downhill with the green having quite a bit of movement”

• #14 – “One of the prettiest par 5s in the world.”

• #15 – “Another little par 4 with I think one of the best greens on the golf course. It’s like three to four separate greens, and it’s on a pond.”

• #16 – “Probably our toughest par 3 on the golf course. It’s got a pond – the pond from 15 green goes over – and the new green has a lot of contour to it.”

• #17 – “We’ve lengthened it and it’s going to be very exciting because the pros are going to be able to get there in two and that will have a lot of excitement.”

• #18 – “We changed the bunkering and it’s a tough home hole now.”

In fact, No. 18 is going to get a workout for nearly the first time for the pros. In The International, the points leader was usually decided by the 17th hole in all but three years. Schneider said they want to see how 18 performs as the final test.

“If you look back at recent history of BMW’s, that’s one of the neat things about having the top 50 players in the world is it’s going to be neck-and-neck coming down the last couple of days and on Sunday,” said Duffy Solich, chairman of the BMW Championship tournament. “16, 17 and 18 are going to be pivotal.”
