We Are Golf – Meet Geoff Keffer, PGA

An Assistant PGA Professional who believes the game is about people first and scorecards second.

For Geoff Keffer, PGA, golf has always been about people first and the game second. Long before trophies, titles, or scorecards, the game introduced him to connection, character, and confidence. Many lessons have continued to shape who he is today as an Assistant PGA Golf Professional at Lakewood Country Club.

Geoff’s love for golf began at just five years old, when he played his first hole alongside his dad. A shot, bladed through a bunker, skidding across the rough, and somehow finding the bottom of the cup, got him hooked instantly. From that moment on, golf became more than a pastime; it became a lifelong pursuit. Guided by his father and longtime instructor Zane Zwemke, PGA, Geoff learned not only how to shape shots, but how to think, compete, and carry himself with integrity.

That foundation carried him to one of his proudest moments as a competitor, winning the TaylorMade National Championship at Spyglass and Pebble Beach, courses he had grown up hearing stories about from his dad. Yet even in victory, Geoff measures success differently. To him, golf reveals true character and teaches life’s most valuable lessons through its challenges.

As a coach and mentor, Geoff’s philosophy is simple. The game is hard enough; make it easy and fun. Whether helping a student shoot their best round or offering encouragement during competition, he finds purpose in helping others grow and enjoy the game more deeply. His impact is felt not just in improved swings but in lasting relationships and shared joy.

“I define myself by helping others and sharing the joy I experience through the game,” Geoff says. And through his passion, humility, and care for people, he continues to grow the game one connection at a time.
