Nestled against the Spring Mountain Range, Golf Summerlin, a Sun City development, is minutes from the glamorous action of downtown Las Vegas and the neon-lights of the Strip but at a distance far removed from famed tourist attractions. Sun City Summerlin homes (which include single family, garden villas and patio homes) are protected from distractions by three Billy Casper/Greg Nash designed golf courses and community recreation facilities.
In addition to the majestic, challenging and scenic golf courses, Golf Summerlin residents enjoy three restaurants, four community centers with pools, tennis courts and convenient access to local shopping.
The main attraction of course is golf. Located just off I-15 and near the home of the PGA Tour’s Shriners Hospitals for Children Open you’ll find Highland Falls, Palm Valley and Eagle Crest courses, highlights of the Casper/Nash menu of designed courses. All are well conditioned, offer country club service and are an enjoyable test of golf.
Director of Golf Donny Long says, “Golf Summerlin courses are among the finest and best maintained in Southern Nevada. Palm Valley was built in 1989, Highland Falls 1992 and Eagle Crest (an 18-hole executive course) in 1994. Most believe Golf Summerlin is private as we are a hidden gem in a Sun City community of 7,800 homes, but all three courses are public and open to outside play and golf groups of any size. Highland Falls has been recognized multiple times with the Best of Las Vegas award by the Review Journal.”
The manicured conditions and club-like atmosphere of these courses are at odds with the pricing especially when considering other higher-end courses in the area; advantage goes to the visiting guests and Golf Summerlin residents.
You will enjoy the private club-like atmosphere at Highland Falls and Palm Valley without the sticker shock. Long says, “Highland Falls tends to be the favorite for most guests due to spectacular conditions, elevation changes and the views of the Las Vegas strip. Palm Valley is a more traditional layout, flatter but longer, with strategically placed bunkers and manicured conditions. Eagle Crest is a favorite for many locals due to quick rounds and playability, and draws players looking to finish a round in two and half hours. Players are often surprised that it can play as difficult as any course in town if you choose to play it from the tips.”
Due to its elevation, Golf Summerlin has the advantage of cooler temperatures and the year-round weather is excellent, with very low rain totals, low humidity and plenty of sunshine.
Next time you’re heading to Las Vegas, Nevada, consider adding this trifecta of Vegas golf. Yes, Las Vegas is built on fast-paced, neon-encrusted fun, but if you’re looking for wallet friendly enjoyable golf, please visit www.golfsummerlin.com. Who knows, you may become our newest resident.
