#GetGolfFit Series: Club Head Speed Swing Plane Drill

This training aid improves club head speed and swing path consistency in your golf swing

Class-A PGA Professional and former NFL player Jason Witczak of The Club at Pradera and Pinery Country Club is here to show you an exercise that will invite speed and consistency to your golf swing. Due to a shallow take-away, Elizabeth was forced to lift the club in her backswing. To steepen the takeaway, Jason gives Elizabeth the heavier and more stable four-pound Siri Stick. This training aid has evenly distributed weight, and forces the golfer to adjust their backswing accordingly. Once she has reached the top of the swing, the weight of the training aid then forces Elizabeth to drop the stick along the same path in which she brought it back. The repetition of this simple vertical swing drill with the Siri Stick will help make the swing plane more consistent and increase overall swing speed.

What you’ll need:

  • Siri Stick swing aid

How to do it:

  • Take the training aid back using a vertical backswing
  • Allow the weight of the aid to force a vertical “drop” of the club
  • Allow the weight of the aid to guide the swing plane through the impact zone and to the finish
  • Repeat until this motion feels more natural
