The Aurora course is aging like a fine wine
There is something special about CommonGround Golf Course.
The course entered the stratosphere of public golf attention after the Colorado Golf Association purchased it and put through a full renovation of the former Mira Vista Golf Course in 2009. The Tom Doak-led redesign created a simple, beautiful, minimalist experience that has stood the test of time. As the years have gone on it has more than held its own and now finds itself listed by national publications as one of the finest public golf courses in the land.
What to Expect:
Golf Digest called CommonGround one of ’10 Courses that give you the best bang for your buck.” A visitor quickly discovers why. The redesign removed some trees, allowed native grasses to flourish, and placed bunkers strategically to reward players who have put in time at the range. While flat – you can’t import mountains – the design is one of the finest example of making interesting challenges out of every hole without resorting to bells and whistles. It is a shot-makers paradise, and as such the course hosts numerous tournaments and qualifiers every summer.
