Clark heads to Sunday tied for U.S. Open lead

 

 

Colorado’s Wyndham Clark has continued his remarkable 2023 season at the U.S. Open this weekend, heading into Sunday’s final round tied for the lead.

Paired with Rickie Fowler, Clark led for most of Saturday until bogeying three holes on the back nine. He birdied 18, though,  and heads into Sunday’s round in the best position he has had yet to win his first major.

Clark, who played high school golf at Valor Christian High School, won his first PGA Tour tournament earlier this season. He was in contention on Sunday at the Memorial Tournament as well and finished T-12.

Clark is joined on the leaderboard by some of the game’s biggest names. Clark is tied with Fowler at 10-under par. Lurking close in the Top 10 are Rory McIlroy at 9-under, world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler at 7-under, and past U.S. Open champs Dustin Johnson and Bryson DeChambeau.

The winner of the U.S. Open receives $3.6 million. Sunday’s final round is scheduled to air on NBC from 1 to 10 p.m.
