Aurora native gets pair of Top 10s in his second pro season

In his second pro golf season – his first on the DP World Tour – Aurora’s Davis Bryant has picked up two Top 10 finishes this summer and earned a last-minute invite to this weekend’s ISCO Championship in Louisville, Ky.

The ISCO Championship kicks off today and marks Bryant’s first PGA Tour start. The event is played the same weekend as the Scottish Open, and while top PGA Tour pros flood that tournament to prepare for The Open next week – including Colorado’s Wyndham Clark – DP World Tour and PGA Tour players without access there come the other way to the ISCO Championship, co-sponsored by the PGA Tour and DP World Tour.
The winner of the ISCO Championship gets an entry into next week’s Open Championship at Northern Ireland’s Royal Portrush Golf Club.
Bryant earned his place in Louisville by finishing 4th in last weekend’s BMW International Open in Munich Germany. Bryant earned a lot of TV time when he roared through his Friday round with a 63, including a hole-in-one on the 165 yard, par 3, 12th hole. His putter stayed hot the entire round, and he was the second-round leader. An even-par 72 hurt his chances at winning, causing him to lose ground with the other top players, but he rallied with a Sunday round of 68.
The T-4 finish earned him about $130,000 and put him on a flight that night from Germany to Louisville.
“After the KLM Open, I was able to get some much-needed rest and family time in Colorado before heading back across the pond to Europe,” he wrote to supporters after the tournament. “It was great to reset and work on my game at home, and I felt refreshed and prepared for the last two events.”
Bryant on Monday posted photos of he and fellow Colorado State University golf alum Martin Laird as they both prepared for the ISCO Championship.
Just one week earlier he earned his first Top 10, a T-10 finish at the Italian Open.
Dan Erickson, whose family has lived in Colorado, is also in his rookie season on the DP World Tour. He finished tied for 19th last week at the BMW International Open. He also has one Top 10 on the DP World Tour this season, finishing tied for 6th at the Porsche Singapore Classic in March.
Also competing in the ISCO Championship this weekend is Denver-native Mark Hubbard.
