Another classy shoe from True Linkswear

The weather in the Pacific Northwest has a bad reputation, not entirely undeserved. But it’s not the coldest place in the USA, nor the hottest, most humid, or windiest. And no, according to the handful of sources we checked, it’s not even the rainiest (it’s actually sixth or seventh).

It’s not the extremes for which the PNW climate is known, but rather the persistence. Seattle gets over 150 days of mostly unremarkable rain each year, along with nearly 230 cloudy days. It just goes on and on and… Portland is right behind with 222 cloudy days (Denver, meanwhile, sees half that amount of cloud and half the rain, almost exactly). At some point between the middle of October and the middle of May, the cold, gray rain gets a bit old, but, importantly, you can still play golf. No, it’s not springtime in Palm Springs, but only very rarely will the weather be bad enough to stop play altogether. You just need a shoe that’s up to the job of keeping you upright, dry, and comfy. It’s got to be waterproof (obviously), athletic, resilient, and sturdy without being stiff or rigid. Stylish too, of course.
It’s only right that a company based in Tacoma, WA, should release a golf shoe it describes as “PNW-proof.” We’ve featured True Linkswear a few times here, paying particular attention to its products’ incredibly comfortable designs. Comfort is still a key feature of the new Ascent shoe, but this time there is a little more focus on staying power and stability.

“Our goal with the Ascent was to create a shoe that embodies the Pacific Northwest spirit – versatile, durable, and ready for anything,” says Jason Moore, TRUE’s CEO and brother of five-time PGA Tour winner, Ryan. “It’s been tested by caddies across the country and designed for 36 holes in any type of terrain, ensuring all-day comfort and performance no matter where your round or adventure takes you.”

The Ascent comes with a one-year waterproof guarantee thanks to its laminated upper, and the rugged sole nubs will keep you grounded no matter how wet it is underfoot. Wanderlux, True’s proprietary midsole compound/foam, is responsible for much of the comfort.
