Paul, 30, played on the Korn Ferry Tour last season and after Sunday’s final tournament had finished 21st in points earned over the course of the season. The top 30 get their cards for the PGA Tour the following year.

Paul won the Korn Ferry Tour’s first event of the 2024 season, The Bahamas Great Exuma Classic at Sandals Emerald Bay, winning $180,000 and putting him in position for a strong season. He returned to Colorado in July and finished tied for fifth at the Ascendant presented by Blue tournament at TPC Colorado, his second-best finish of the season.

The Korn Ferry Tour is the PGA Tour’s developmental league and graduates a class of their top 30 finishers in recent years up to the full tour.

Paul and his twin brother Yannick were raised in Germany but both chose to attend CU to hone their crafts. Yannick is also a professional touring golfer and played in 2024 on the DPT World Tour, where he has career earnings thereof close to $3 million.

Paul told CU’s former sports information director David Plati on Sunday he is proud of what he has done so far in his career.

“In terms of golf, obviously a long journey but super rewarding to achieve this lifelong goal,” Paul said.  “Golf is obviously super competitive, and the margins are so slim and you just continuously have to work and improve little things and still never know when your time is coming.

“But I worked a lot on the mental aspect the last two years and that helped a ton to translate the improvements onto the course,” he said.  “There is always doubts on this journey and that’s normal but key is to put everything into perspective and have an overall positive mindset.”
