The CSU Lady Rams were out in Tucson, Arizona, this weekend competing in the MountainView Collegiate hosted by the University of Missouri. The tournament was played at the par-72, 6,151-yard MountainView Golf Club.

CSU’s one-two punch, sophomore Ellen Secor (Portland, Oregon) and junior Katrina Prendergast (Sparks, Nevada), were impressive yet again. Out of the gate, Secor posted a steady even-par round of 72. Prendergast bested her by one stroke with a 1-under-par 71. Heading into moving day, Prendergast was three strokes off the lead after making five birdies and four bogeys in her opening loop.

As a unit, CSU struggled in the second round. Secor was two under par thru 15 holes, but she made back-to-back double bogeys on her 16th and 17th holes of the day. She fired a 2-over-par 74 and was at 2 over par overall. Prendergast couldn’t find her rhythm—she carded a disappointing 79.

The Rams put their resilience on full display during their final loop. They logged the third-lowest aggregate round of the day with a 2-under-par 286. Secor posted another even-par 72, and she wound up T8 on the individual leaderboard at 2 over par for her third top-10 of the season.

Prendergast bounced back in a big way in her final round. She caught fire and made 3 birdies and an eagle en route to a 3-under-par 69, which tied the low round of the day. She shot up to solo 12th place individually.

Frosh Haley Greb (Pendleton, Oregon) shot rounds of 76-79-73 and 12 over par. She ended play in a tie for 38th. Sophomores Jessica Sloot (Fruit Heights, Utah) and Brooke Nolte (Melissa, Texas) totaled 17 over par for their three rounds, and finished T59.

Thanks to a stellar final round, the Rams finished sixth in the 15-team field at 29 over par.

The University of Illinois won the event with a final score of 11 over par. San Jose State’s Abegail Arevalo won on the individual side at 3 under par.

The Rams will tee it up next at the Bryan National at Bryan Park in Greensboro, North Carolina, April 6-8.
