Aurora’s Davis Bryant and Berthoud’s Dan Erickson pull out of Korn Ferry qualifier and plan full DP World Tour season in 2025

The two Colorado players who earned their cards for the DP World Tour 2025 season in grueling Q-School competition last month in Spain both have opted to cancel their efforts to play on the Korn Ferry Tour next year and focus on DP World Tour events.
Davis Bryant of Aurora and Dan Erickson, whose family lives in Berthoud, both have withdrawn from the second stage of qualifying process for the Korn Ferry Tour’s Q-Schools. Those tournaments are scheduled to be played this weekend, with the top finishers moving ahead to Korn Ferry Q-School finals Dec. 12 to 15.
Bryant announced Monday that he had withdrawn from that process and is traveling immediately to South Africa to begin DP World Tour play. Erickson had previously announced he was also choosing to play 2025 on the DP World Tour.
The DP World Tour is less lucrative than the PGA Tour and requires more travel for U.S.-based players, but top finishers still can make millions each year and earn cards back onto the PGA Tour in future years.
Bryant on Monday said his long-term goal is still to reach the PGA Tour, but at the age of 24 he will benefit from a year of high competition around the world.
“I just thought it was a disservice for myself to not take advantage of these first tournaments,” he said.
The DP World Tour has been the stomping ground for Denver native Gunner Wiebe for the past two seasons. Bryant said he and Wiebe know each other and he looks forward to speaking with him to get some insight on the season ahead.
Bryant said that by earning his DP World Tour card he will have access to at least 25 tournaments next year. If he plays well he can earn points to qualify for the DP tournaments that have the highest payouts, the Rolex Series.
The DP World Tour 2025 season has already begun. American Ryggs Johnston, from Montana, just earned his card as well and played immediately in and won last weekend’s ISPS HANDA Australian Open. Johnston earned $209,000 with the win.
Bryant said he plans to try to play in the Alfred Dunhill Championship Dec. 12 to 15 outside of Johannesburg, then in the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open on the Indian Ocean island nation of Mauritius. The DP World Tour season returns in February with tournaments in the Middle East in January and February, then Asia through Spring, then Europe and the U.S. throughout the summer.
“This will make the learning curve a little bit quicker,” Bryant said. “Worst comes to worse I can go to Q-School next year.”
