Westin La Paloma’s $35 Million Rejuvenation

TUCSON, Arizona  – Tucson’s signature luxury resort and spa, The Westin La Paloma, placed the finishing touches on its $35 million resort-wide rejuvenation in August, 2013. During this 1.5 year long transformation, all public spaces and guest rooms received refreshing and modern upgrades to provide the most luxurious atmosphere and experience possible. Each of the 487 guest rooms (including 25 suites) have received floor to ceiling redesign; meeting spaces and ballrooms are reinvented; all five gorgeous resort pools are remodeled and ready for relaxation or play; the 27 hole Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course bunkers and greens are refreshed and resurfaced; the Westin WORKOUT Fitness Center is remodeled and equipped with state-of-the-art equipment; La Paloma Country Club tennis courts have received new surfaces and fencing; and new locally- sourced ground cover, indigenous vegetation, and lighting systems have been installed throughout the property.

Essentially, every inch of the resort has been beautifully transformed. What remain assuredly unchanged are the enchanting mountain, city, and golf course views and the incomparably high level of service for which the Resort has become known. Rejuvenation enhancements include:

Suite Amenities:

In addition to the indulgent Heavenly products and luxurious upgrades standard in all Westin La Paloma Resort rooms, our suites are now sweeter than ever. All eight Grand Suites now have full sized refrigerators in the parlor area. All four Resort Suites, including the opulent La Paloma and San Xavier Suites, now feature full sized refrigerators; a 55” flat screen TV; a Blue Ray player; and Bose® surround systems in the Parlors.

Westin La Paloma’s 60,000 square feet of event/conference/meeting space has been rejuvenated to complement our breathtaking views and dramatic surrounding landscape. Enhancements include:

• New carpeting in both pre-function and all conference spaces
• Elegant ballroom chandeliers
• Pristine banquet equipment including tables, chairs, and linens
• State-of-the-art audio/visual equipment

Resort Pools and Courtyard. The reinvention of one of Tucson’s most iconic spots for sun worshipers is completely resurfaced with beautiful stonework. All new lounge-chairs offer the newest level of comfort and luxury poolside. The swim-up and walk-up bars and service area at Sabino’s poolside have also been reinvented aesthetically and technologically to allow for expedited delivery and the best possible guest experience. Five new poolside Cabanas are available for guests and country club members. Two adult only area cabanas and three family area cabanas are all appointed with a television, ceiling fan, small refrigerator and two lounge-chairs with an additional two lounge chairs outside of the cabana. A gift bag with sunscreen and Chapstick is included with rental along with six bottled waters, and a fresh fruit platter. Service staff will be available to tend to your cabana experience offering fresh food and drinks from Sabino’s, our poolside bar and grill.

The AZuL Patio has been transformed into a beautifully adorned gateway to the stunning mountain and resort pool views. Relaxing negative-edge reflection pools line the artistic stonework covered stairs leading to the resort pool and courtyard areas. Natural gas-fueled fire pits strategically placed along the patio offer the perfect gathering spot and vantage point for catching our amazing Sonoran Desert sunsets and recounting the days' adventures.

La Paloma Country Club Golf Course. All 27 holes of La Paloma Country Club’s Jack Nicklaus Signature design received rejuvenation of bunkers and greens and are open for play. This $600,000 project dramatically changed the aesthetics of the golf course, creating the look and feel of a new facility, while keeping the traditions of this championship layout. The bunkers on all three of the award winning courses now have the finest white sand on the market imported from San Juan Capistrano, California. The bunkers beautifully compliment the refreshed green surfaces covered in lush Mini Verde Bermuda grass sourced from neighboring Casa Grande, Arizona. Beyond the 'beauty factor' these course enhancements allow consistency of play from bunker to bunker and green to green. The La Paloma Country Club golf course is only open to the private membership and guests staying at the Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa.

La Paloma Country Club Health Center. The beautifully renewed space is the most upscale surroundings to sweat in style. Resort guests and La Paloma Country Club members may choose to use state-of-the-art cardio and strength training equipment or to join a group effort at one of the regularly scheduled classes. Cardio and resistance options include:

La Paloma Country Club Tennis Courts. Each of the six La Paloma Country Club hard tennis courts have been resurfaced with the True Bounce Resurfacing System. This process involves layering different consistencies of materials made from recycled tires. (Each court was applied with material from approximately 15,000 recycled tires!) The forgiving yet stable surface absorbs shock to reduce impact on players' legs, knees, ankles and feet and eliminates 'dead spots' that affect the ball's bounce during play. Resurfacing will take place in stages. The La Paloma Country Club tennis courts are only open to the private membership and guests staying at the Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa.
