International Battle in Scotland Just Two Weeks Away
With the 2014 Ryder Cup set to play later this month at venerable Gleneagles in Perthshire, Scotland, there is no better time to start showing support for the Tom Watson-led lineup than by purchasing and wearing apparel specially designed by America’s own Ralph Lauren.
The collection is part of a new agreement with the PGA of America that entitles the premier apparel manufacture to be the Official Partner and Outfitter of the Ryder Cup through 2020.
True to form, Ralph Lauren draws upon the rich history and sophistication of the Ryder Cup by immersing its patriotic pants, shirts and jackets in iconic stars and stripes, graphic color blocking and classic palettes of red, white and blue. (We’re especially looking forward to seeing fashion-forward team member Rickie Fowler decked out in bright red pants.)
Leading the apparel line, at least in price, is the full-zipper drive jacket (pictured above, $525 retail) and vented pants ($175), three-layer, water-resistant covers that shield against brutish Scottish winds and rains. When the weather turns cooler—and it likely will—the fleece jacket ($135) offers another level of insulation, as do the windbreaker (pictured above, $260) and all-merino wool sweater (pictured below, $175).
The Ralph Lauren Ryder Cup collection includes an array of Polo Golf and RLX Golf apparel. It’s available for purchase online at ralphlauren.com, www.shop.pga.com and at select golf clubs, resorts and retail stores.
The Ryder Cup is scheduled to be played Sept. 23-28 on Gleneagles’ Jack Nicklaus-designed Centenary Course. To view samples of what the European Ryder Cup team will be wearing, click here.
