2014 BMW Championship

CHERRY HILLS VILLAGE, Colorado – When Denver's Cherry Hills Country Club was selected to host the 2014 BMW Championship during the first week in September, tournament organizers expected a positive response and they have not been disappointed. Support from fans, volunteers and corporate hospitality groups has already exceeded expectations nearly three months before the 2014 BMW Championship. The Rocky Mountain region has left no doubt about its enthusiasm for hosting the penultimate event of the PGA TOUR’s FedExCup Playoffs; to date more than 110 corporate hospitality supporters have signed on, over 2,400 volunteers have enlisted and fans have bought out two ticket categories –any day tournament round tickets and upgraded weekly tickets. This response has spurred tournament organizers at the Western Golf.

“We knew that Denver is a pretty big sports town, but the excitement and demand we've seen for the 2014 BMW Championship has really been impressive,” said Vince Pellegrino, Senior Vice President of Tournaments for the Western Golf Association. “With less than 100 days to the start of the 2014 BMW Championship, we are very close to reaching our overall ticket goal.” Given this overwhelming support coming from the community-at-large, BMW Championship officials have elected to introduce a new, all-inclusive ticket for the tournament, which will be hosted at Cherry Hills Country Club in Cherry Hills Village, Colorado, from Sept. 1-7. Named the Wadley Club Ticket, after the tournament's historic trophy, the luxury ticket option will offer a superior spectator experience with access to the ‘Wadley Club’ Hospitality tent and its amenities.

“We want everyone who attends the 2014 BMW Championship to have an up-close-and-personal spectator experience,” said Pellegrino. “With upgraded ticket options selling out quickly, we determined there was demand for an additional premium ticket option for those coming out to watch the top 70 golfers in the world competeat Cherry Hills.”

The Wadley Club ticket, the only all-inclusive option for the 2014 BMW Championship, will offer fans the opportunity to experience amenities similar to those offered in corporate hospitality tents. Located on the Par 3, 15th hole, only Wadley Club ticket holders will be granted access to the open-air tent that will provide exceptional, unobstructed views of the action and comfortable seating. Food, beer, wine and soft drinks available in the hospitality tent are included for ticket holders.  A limited number of daily tickets to the Wadley Club are being offered during BMW Championship tournament rounds, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Ticket prices are $250 per ticket for Thursday or Friday and $300 per ticket for Saturday or Sunday.  Tickets can be purchased online at www.BMWChampionshipUSA.com.

“Ticket availability will remain limited in all categories so we can stage a premier event that golf fans have come to expect from the BMW Championship and Cherry Hills Country Club ” explained Pellegrino. “Given the strong demand we've seen to date, I wouldn't be surprised if ticket categories continue to sell out.”

About the BMW Championship

The BMW Championship dates back to 1899 when it debuted as the Western Open, making it the third-oldest tournament on the PGA TOUR schedule, behind only the British Open and U.S. Open. BMW has sponsored the tournament since 2007 when it became the third of four Playoff events with the introduction of the PGA TOUR’s FedExCup Playoffs.  Once it became the penultimate Playoff event, the tournament converted from a full field event to a field of 70 players to determine the final 30 players for the FedExCup finale at the TOUR Championship by Coca-Colain Atlanta. All net proceeds from the BMW Championship benefit the Evans Scholars Foundation, which grants full college scholarships to deserving young caddies. Since BMW became title sponsor, the tournament has contributed more than $16 million to the Evans Scholars Foundation.

The 2014 BMW Championship will be contested Sept. 4-7 at Cherry Hills Country Club in Denver, Colo. This marks the first time since the 1985 PGA Championship that PGA TOUR players will compete at Cherry Hills Country Club. The BMW Championship will be added to a long history of championships hosted at Cherry Hills: 2012 U.S. Amateur, 2005 U.S. Women’s Open, 1993 U.S. Senior Open, 1990 U.S. Amateur, 1985 PGA Championship, 1983 U.S. Mid-Amateur, 1978 U.S. Open, 1976 USGA Senior Amateur, 1960 U.S. Open, 1941 PGA Championship, 1938 U.S. Open.
