Rain, Rain, Kept at Bay with Galvin Green’s New Raingear

Galvin Green’s new Paclite raingear will help keep you swinging whatever the weather

Summer might be just around the dogleg, although you’d never know it with all the Seattle-like weather we’ve been having.

And it’s not just in Colorado. After a soggy Sunday at Colonial, and with the Irish Open and Open Championship coming up, the game’s best players know it would be unprofessional to arrive at the golf course without at least some weatherproof clothing.

Like just about everything else in our lives, weather-resistant golf clothing has become lighter and more efficient in recent years, taking up far less space in our bags, weighing significantly less than our parents’ waterproofs, repelling more water, and expelling more sweat. Instead of unzipping our raingear and releasing a puff of steam, we can remove our jacket, pullovers, rain-shirts, and half-zips feeling dry and comfortable.

Swedish-based and family-owned Galvin Green has been making some of the best-performing all-weather gear since 1990, and recently introduced its Spring/Summer 2015 GORE-TEX Paclite outerwear range which features GORE-TEX fabric engineered to be exceptionally light (the jacket weighs just eight ounces), breathable, and completely waterproof. Those familiar with GORE-TEX know that each square centimeter of fabric has over 1.4 billion microscopic pores that are 20,000 times smaller than a water droplet, but 700 times larger than a water vapor molecule. That allows sweat to escape but prevents rain getting in.

Available in full-zip, half-zip and short-sleeve options, the easily-packable Paclite jacket takes up the space of a few golf balls. Trousers, caps and hats, are also part of the range and come in a variety of color options. All are guaranteed to keep you dry.

“All the Paclite products embody our focus on stripping everything down to the bare essentials while still ensuring the pure performance for which Galvin Green is renowned,” says Andrew Creed, President of Galvin Green USA.

Supporting its latest introductions is the company’s ”Dress for the Weather” app that is free on the App Store or Google Play. It provides detailed five-day forecasts for thousands of courses in the U.S., Canada, the U.K. and Europe, and recommends the type and amount of clothing the golfer should wear. No one likes playing golf in the rain. But if it does get a little wet, you want to be prepared.

Galvin Green’s Paclite outerwear will minimize the effects of inclement weather, giving you a big advantage over your ill-equipped opponents.

Akron Short-sleeve (shown in pictures) – $320. Also available in blue/red/white, white/grey/black, purple/white/black.
