Omni’s Golf Resorts Give Back

Take the Cha-Ching! Out of Airline Baggage Fees

Like most golfers, I absolutely cringe at the thought of playing with rented golf clubs. And who can blame us? The game is bloody hard enough without swinging unfamiliar sets of woods, irons and putters. Regardless, that is what many traveling golfers usually opt to do.

Why? Because airlines or delivery companies now charge $25, $35, $50 or more to ship our sticks, a fee that in not-so bygone times was cheerfully included in the price of a passenger ticket. Today, golfers are faced with a lesser-of-two-evils compromise: Pay through the nose for club shipment, or risk a consequential high-scoring game with alien rentals through which you’ve also paid a hefty fee.

For a dedicated golfer, that is a no-win conciliation that simply screams for a better way.

As a matter of fact, there is. To the rescue is Omni Hotels & Resorts, a pearl necklace of luxury resort properties that recently initiated a loyalty rewards program that includes among its various perks the full reimbursement of fees associated with traveling with golf clubs.

Wow.

This wouldn’t be such a sweet deal if the 12 golf resorts in question were second tier, but each and every one is top drawer, among them the Omni Interlocken Hotel (Denver), Omni Tucson National Resort, Omni La Costa Resort & Spa (San Diego), Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa (Palm Springs), Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort, Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa (Austin) and The Omni Homestead Resort (Hot Springs, VA).

Sharing the limelight are The Omni Grove Park Inn (Asheville, NC), Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort, Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate, Omni Mount Washington Resort (Bretton Woods, NH) and the Omni Bedford Springs (PA) Resort.

Enrollment in the Omni Select Guest program can be completed online or upon check in. Also worth noting: This three-month promotion is valid through Aug. 31, 2015, giving Omni-loyal travelers added-value/low-season opportunities like those often available at properties in Arizona and Florida.
