Jason Day’s Pre-Round Warm-up Routine

Jason Day's Pre-Round Warm-up Routine

You could do a lot worse these days as a golfer than trying to emulate Jason Day. Fresh off a decisive win at The Players Championship this past weekend, the world’s top-ranked golfer now has seven wins since last July in a stretch of incredible golf.

Sure you may or may not ever pipe a 350-yard drive on command, let alone a 308-yard 2-iron over water (as Day did on the 18th tee), but at least you can warm-up like the world number one.

Needless to say, the top PGA TOUR golfers don’t show up to the course minutes before their tee time, check in with the starter, and hit a couple putts on the practice green like you might do in your weekly league game. Every player has a different routine, but there is a purpose to each practice shot. So what does Jason Day’s warm-up look like?

In total, it contains:

42 full swings
26 chip shots
27 putts

The PGA TOUR recently highlighted the pre-round routines of 11 of the top golfers in the world. See how Jason Day prepares for his competitive rounds in the video below, and browse the videos of 10 other touring pros. Is your routine similar or different? Should you start by putting or by going to the range? What approach can you take and apply to your practice sessions?

See the warm-up routines each of the following PGA TOUR players completes on the range and putting green before their rounds:

Dustin Johnson
Adam Scott
Jordan Spieth
Rickie Fowler
Rory McIlroy
Phil Mickelson
Billy Horschel
Bubba Watson
Hunter Mahan
Lee Westwood
