Grand Junction’s Reds, Whites and Greens

Grand Junction is home to 21 vineyards and two unique golf courses

Indulge in the reds, whites and greens. When you escape to Grand Junction, you will find yourself immersed in a region lush with vineyards and orchards standing contrast to the vivid red rock canyons. Two courses prominently stand out in this Western Colorado destination: The Golf Club at Redlands Mesa and Tiara Rado Golf Course.

Hole 17 at the award winning Golf Club at Redlands Mesa is the signature hole with a dramatic tee shot, featuring a 150-foot vertical drop from tee to green surrounded by a rock amphitheater. Avoid the deep bunker to the right of the green on this par 3, 218 yard shot. Truly the quintessential tee shot at Redlands Mesa.

When the last hole has been played, take a moment to appreciate why you chose Redlands Mesa – the 2014 Colorado AvidGolfer CAGGY #1 Best Western Slope Course. Soak in the breathtaking vistas of the vibrant greens set in the canyons, with sweeping views, all while sipping local libations. 970-263-9270, redlandsmesa.com.

Grand Junction is unique in that you are able to golf two destination courses in one location. Tiara Rado Golf Course is located near Redlands Mesa, at the base of the Colorado National Monument, which creates a remarkable view at every tee.

Hole 18 is one of the highlights at Tiara Rado featuring elevated tees and a total distance of up to 320 yards; this is a risk and reward par 4. At first it appears short and you may be tempted to drive it, however, there is a chance to lay up in the fairway and hit it back up to the elevated green. Enjoy the challenge, yet take time to slow down and appreciate the scenic beauty throughout the course. 970-254-3830, golfgrandjunction.net

Home to 21 wineries, the Grand Junction region is Colorado Wine Country. If hops are more to your liking, the Grand Valley offers six breweries and even one nationally recognized distillery.

The golf and amenities in the Grand Junction region are best when shared; book a trip for four or more people on VisitGrandJunction.com/avidgolfer to receive a complimentary $20 Downtown Grand Junction gift card good at all shops and restaurants from the Visitor & Convention Bureau.
