Four Reasons to Escape to Turnberry Isle Miami

Turnberry Isle deserves a spot on your bucket list

This week the PGA Tour starts its East Coast Swing in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. While playing PGA National Golf Club is undoubtedly enticing, there’s another golfer’s guilty pleasure just 65 miles south in Aventura. Enriched with just about every ultra-luxe comfort imaginable, Turnberry Isle Miami is 300 acres of superlative amenities, snazzy accommodations, sumptuous cuisine and very special customer service.

So much to experience, so little time. Here’s a four-point bucket list of Turnberry Isle Miami’s must do’s:

1. Play golf at the tough-as-nails Soffer Course, a Robert Trent Jones track that was totally revamped and stiffened big-time by PGA Tour legend Ray Floyd. The 7,047-yard par-71 layout offers lush conditioning that illuminates palm-lined fairways, clever doglegs, rolling greens and a maze of water features, including the infamous island-green 18th. 2. Sooth your over-taxed muscles at the resort’s award-winning spa and fitness center. Created by renowned spa designer Tag Galyean, the 25,000-square-foot facility features an array of massages, facials, body wraps, therapies and wellness programs to complement the 26 treatment rooms, aerobics, indoor cycling, free weights, salon and café.

3. Treat yourself to a candlelight dinner at Michael Mina’s Bourbon Steak restaurant. Mina’s signature modern fare of the finest meats and freshest seafoods are served amid chic mirrored walls and a “glass box” private room. Order from the 1,000-label wine cellar and sample the new Bourbon Steak Bar Burgers menu. Or, arrange for a chef to come directly to your suite and prepare an intimate feast. (Highly recommended: the spice-crusted yellowfin tuna or chorizo encrusted rack of lamb, paired with a bottle of 1977 Joseph Phelps Cabernet Sauvignon.)

4. Turn the youg’uns loose at the Kids’ Connection Club, a supervised children’s program for children ages 4 to 12. Then head off site to the resort’s exclusive, oceanfront Beach Club. Try windsurfing and Hobie-cat sailing, sip a few umbrella-and-fruit topped libations, and get deep into a Clive Cussler novel.

Guilty pleasures? Absolutely. (855) 201-8027 or www.turnberryislemiami.com
