Billy’s Inn | West Highlands

Billy’s has been around 80 years, and the current neighborhood bar configuration is a winner.

There’s terrific Happy Hour food—margaritas, wings and nachos all day Monday and 3-6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The green chile (thickened with masa) and the big burgers rate highly as well. But tacos are the go-to move. Order a la carte—I had the grilled mahi, baja crispy fish and roasted pork tacos and felt like the smartest guy in the room. If you’re recovering from a bad round of golf, the “Tequila Club” provides solace.

Visit BillysInnTequilaClub.com, start your profile, and the Inn will track your consumption of blanco, reposado and anejo categories. The offer even came with free coaching from my waitress: “You don’t have to do them all in one visit.” Try 35 and you get a hat; try 65 and you get a t-shirt. Try all 135 and you make the wall and probably a referral to a 12-step program. Me, I started the fresh-squeezed lemonade club.
